Problems maintaining RPM

Okay, I called the local Chevy dealership and they could not diagnose the problem over the phone. In fact, the guy I talked too had never even heard of this problem.

I own a 1997 Chevy S-10 Blazer with 4-wheel drive with 86K miles. At first, I was noticing that the vehicle was "jutting" or stalling to shift from 1st to 2nd gear and from 2nd gear to 3rd gear. Naturally, I thought I had a transmission problem. I talked to several transmission repair folks that felt like I wasn't having any direct problems with the mechanical part of the transmission.

But, after getting a transmission flush for the heck of it, the problem seemed to have fixed itself except for 2nd to 3rd still acting a little weird. But, the fluid that was taken out of the Blazer looked perfect.

Anyways, now when I am going like 70 mph on the interstate and I am not using the cruise control but rather just making a short drive to the city on the interstate, if I let off the accelerator just a very little, the RPM's will remain the same for a few seconds and then they will drop to the proper RPM, with a small "bump" in the jump of a few RPM's. Plus, I seem to have to accelerate to get the vehicle to shift from 1st to 2nd and sometimes from 2nd to 3rd when from a stopped position.

So, out of curiousity, anybody else suffer with this? Or, does anybody know what this problem is? And, I am wondering if the problems I have described are connected to each other because they started at about the same time.

Is your vehicle standard or auto?

Sorry, it is an Automatic.

What do you mean you need to accelerate to change gears? Isn't that what we all do?

Also, did you replace the transmission filter?

I meant that I have to accelerate a lot to just get it to change from 1st to 2nd and from 2nd to 3rd. But after getting into 3rd, it seems to shift fine to any other gear.

The transmission filter was replaced when I had the transmission fluid replaced.

Ok, try this.

Go and take your negative battery cable off of your battery for 5 minutes to reset your computers.

You tranny I believe is computer controlled and this will reset it. The shift points are a little messed up and need to be set back to stock values.
