Belt squeel on start upavman9000 08-24-2004, 04:41 PM I have a 97 DOCH neon... when i start it up the altornator belt squeels.. and sometimes when i let it idol (like by a stop sign). After running it for a lil while it wont do it ( like if i shut it off for 5 min it wont do it when starting it back up) the altornator seems to be fine, the belt is still in good condition, and seems to be tight enough... if i rev the engine while its squeeling it stops it?? any answers for me? hundahunta 08-25-2004, 01:43 AM replace the belts! Dropped2KNeon 09-02-2004, 01:37 PM Make sure the belts are tight enough... not just visually but physically. xmucho_metalx 09-12-2004, 05:57 PM tighten the belts and if they are good then put some belt grease on it from autozone mdwinter 09-26-2004, 04:53 PM I had the same problem with my neon. The belts looked good until I took them off, and the inside of the belt was all tore to hell. I ended up changing both belts on my car and it runs very good now. The belt that was bad on my car was the alternator belt. Good Luck. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
