Infinity Gold re-installShaun 84 Targa 08-20-2004, 08:10 AM I've got a 95 GC with the Infinity Gold system. Head unit only partially worked, no sound specifically, when I bought it, so first I replaced the head unit, then the amp. Still no sound, but worsel, both head units don't display FM. When you hit AM/FM, the SET 1 display comes up. is there some type of security circuit in these things? Anyone have similar troubles? Have tested speaker outs from head unit and amp, and test light is mighty dim. Thoughts? MSStateBullDawg 09-03-2004, 09:12 AM I am having a similar problem with my Infinity system. Not the soundless problem, but the problem where all the buttons think they are the buttons *near* it, but not necessarily the button itself. For example, the 1 button thinks it's the 2 button, the cd button thinks it's the seek down button, etc. It seems completely random when the button will work and when it won't work, but as of lately it does seem that the buttons only try to be the button immediately on the right side of it, or itself. I can only assume that the circuit board behind the face-plate is shorted out somewhere. I've tried to clean it, but that had no effect. If you figure out what's wrong with yours, give me a holler please! mtucker23 10-01-2004, 09:03 AM Ok, guys, I have the fix for you. First, if you guys are also having a display problem where there is sometimes a display, and sometimes not, you will need a soldering iron and a steady hand. Reply to mtucker23@hotmail.com if youh ave this problem. As for your button troubles, you need a qtip, isoprotyl alcohol (grocery store), and patience. I as well had this exact problem and fixed it in about 20 min. The fix: Take out the head unit. If you don't know how, well I'm sure there are several places that will tell you. Once you have the head unit out, remove the Equilizer buttons just by pulling them outwards. Unscrew 4 screws, two on each side of the head unit, to remove faceplate. Pull in an outward direction because there are plugs, and you don't want to bend the connectors. You'll see what I mean. There are 3 screws keeping the faceplate circuit board connected to the faceplate. they are located along the top of the board. remove these. There are 2 clips that hold the circuit board to the faceplate just below the cd hole, and then the circuit board slides into the bottom of the faceplate... You will deifnitely see what I'm talking about. You'll come across a bunch of buttons on the opposite side of the circuit board. Remove the metal clips over the buttons. Remove the big gray thing, and you will see a green little spongy thing under each button. In the spongy thing is a black conductive material that has corroded. with a LITTLE isoprotyl, rub the black in the spongy thing, and the two leads down in the button housing. make sure you use a qtip to dry this as well. do this for EVERY button. Put it all back together, and i GUARENTEE you will have a perfectly working stereo. :) if you have any problems, Email me. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
