Replacing 93 Exp Control Arm BushingsSN95GT50 08-19-2004, 01:01 PM My control arm bushings are shot (or should I say gone). I picked up the bushings and need to get going on the install, any advice? It looks like if I remove the sway bar and jack it up, the live axle should lower enough to remove the bushings and re-assemble, is this correct? Or, will I also have to remove the shock to allow enough travel? Or, am I missing the boat and going at this completely wrong? Forgot to mention, this one is 4 wheel drive Any advice? SN95GT50 rickthejeepguru 08-23-2004, 10:12 PM your shocks shouldn't limit your travel at all you might have to remove the coil springs though thats the only way to get more travel out of a 4x4 SN95GT50 08-24-2004, 07:15 AM The job is done, took about 8 hours (never done it before, someone with a little experience maybe 1/2 that). Place jack stands under vehicle and jack under axle Removed shocks Removed front drive shaft Removed sway bar Removed bolt holding trailing arm to chasis Lowered jack removed bushings Installed 1 bushing Raised axle so that trailing arm went back in Installed 2nd bushing Torqued to spec. Re-assembled Did other side. A second set of hands would have really made this job go much easier. Wow did that make a difference in the ride...
