i have a 95 blazer. type w engine. v6 vortech 4.3liter, CPI.
i was told by a friend of mine that there is some kind of supercharger built into the intake. is this true. if so is there any vaccum lines i can tap off of for boost? anything would help. by chance anybody wouldn't happen to know where i can find a supercharger for this truck.

1.) It is not a supercharger in the intake, it is just a dual plenum air design that opens under high through for more efficient air flow and to raise the torque curve to higher rpms.

2.) No, there is no system or our 1995s.

Trust me, I own one.

he said theres a vortech unit thats supposed to spin when intake air passes though it. does any body have any pics of the upper intake on the inside. the only ones i've ever seen were the bottem. i just changed my egr valve and i didn't pull the intake. i don't to mess with it if i don't half to. does the egr mod work on this motor. the hole is 5/32" on the mod. what other cheap mods could i do and still get good gas.

already have 2 1/2" pipe all of the way back, glasspack, ITG racing cone filter. and iat sensor mod.

Get a good cold air intake and a decent muffler.

Get rid of the IAT sensor mod. All you are doing is wasting gas seeing it just tells the computer to dump in more fuel.

The vortech thing is a piece of crap and is a total scam. Our engines already have intake heads that spin the intake air.

The "tornado" thing is a scam, avoid.

Glasspacks are fine. If your feeling adventerous, you can look for a turbocharger from a syclone or a typhoon and try to mate it. Just a suggestion.

you can't take a supercharger system off of a typhoon and slap it on a CPI 4.3L.

They are two completely different fuel injection systems.

Its turbo, so you just have a wheel and an intercooler.

No offense bro, but the typhoon is on a modified TBI system whereas the CPI has the CPI injection with the front facing intake plenum.

They are not interchageable.

None taken, i didn't know when the S-10 went to CPI.

the CPI injection system was used from 1992-1995

TBI and CPI were both options in those years.

The CPI was deemed the highperformance alternative seeing it had 40-50 more horsepower.

i know somebody who has a set of 17" rims that are 8.5" wide. would these fit my truck? low profiles are on the rims.

Huh?

How does this have anything to do with this thread?

Post a different thread on this so people don't get confused.

sorry. nobody told me about cheap mods. i thought you lost alot of gas milage with a supercharger? can you put a custom supercharger on this motor? only bracket and plumbing or is the more engine work or computer. will be posting pics soon.

Can you stay on one topic at a time, first supercharger, then tires and rims, now superchargers again.

Which one are you asking about? Stick to one topic only per thread and stop jumping around.

superchargers. i posted another thread for the wheels. can i put a custom one on or not. what other cheap mods? does the egr mod work?

Ok, cool, now I can help.

Yes, you can put a custom supercharger on it but it will cost you an arm and a leg to custom fab it.

You will be better off to drop a 350 in it. It would be cheaper.

EGR mod does work for some, but for others it causes major pinging and detonation problems seeing the exhaust gas going into the cylinders is going in there to cool combustion temperatures.

When you stop of inhibit the exhaust gas, combustion temperatures go up.

would a 350 even fit without cutting the rire wall? its tight with the 4.3L.

Yes, it would and is a favorite mod for a lot of blazer and s10 owners.

You might have to bend the firewall back slightly for the bellhousing, but all in all, it is pretty simple.

350 Swap: US$2000
Supercharger : US$3000-US$5000

is it something i could do or should i let a shop. i know a good deal about motors and i know a few people who took a mechenics class for cars. i thought the tranny would bolt up? wouldn't i have to change the computer and all of the wireing also? what is your time estimate for it to be completed. ball park total cost after all of the parts.

You are going to have to find that out for yourself.

It is not an easy job.
