The last time I used fwd was in the snow in March. I can't shift it now...any suggestions?

try letting the car move forward slowly then shift the transmission into neutral, while the car is still moving very slowly shift the transfer case into 4WD. sometimes the gears aren't lined up to mesh properly

I had this problem with my Bronco. It was the shift linkage. It had rusted and wouldn't move freely. I took the linkage apart and cleaned it up, applied a little marine grease and it worked fine. I was pretty relieved that it wasn't anything more serious. Could be the gears like the last post indicated as well. Good luck.

thanks Byron..it will be my weekend job. Because I haven't used it since March I figured it wouldn't be anything serious. A little elbow grease and never sieze should probably take care of it.
