i've been hearing about several 600-700hp 350z tuning kits, but i've never once seen any actual dynos, track tests, or performance numbers. has anybody found any specs and performance figures for any of these highly modded 350s?

I haven't seen or read about any exceeding 600, but there's a few that are around 560ish . . . the only prob we seem to have are the rods, pistons, ignition timing (surefire solution), and fuel system (fuel pressure drops big time after 5K RPMs--even with a larger fuel pump and regulator).

The top secret one is the only one I have heard of reaching 700HP, and that was with an engine swap... I dont know who you've been talking to buddy.

Yeah, I remember the top secret one . . . but here's the question of the day? Is it still worthy to call it a true 350? Reminds me of people with kit cars and a 4 stroke engine :D (opposite in this case though)

If I was looking for huge power i would go with the swap but all i want in my Z is 350 whp. To get around 700 you have to get the stroker kit thats 8k and then a turbo/supercharger kit 6k and up. I would rather just get it to the 3 to 400 area and save the rest of the $ for a better suspension. Plus you can't keep the wheels from spinning above 600 whp without slicks.

i still doubt that will get you over 600 hp or it would have been done. as said before they havent quite perfected how to get everything worked out with the fuel delivery. fuel pressure is key when shooting for high numbers.

Just curious, what engine would be swapped into the Z? Something from a Skyline perhaps?

you can swap in any motor you want with the right amount of money or fabrication. but the skyline is the only one that would make sense. vq is a newer motor and the aftermarket hasnt been perfected yet but it will get there some day. the only reason the skyline RB motor makes sense is because it has a very very strong and perfected aftermarket resulting in 1000hp+ engines.

Top secret chucked in a VQ30 which as we can tell has a very good aftermarket.

:1: The biggest numbers I've seen pulled on an RB26DETT is 1424 HP I believe. It was in an R32 GT-R and is the fastest street tire Skyline. The Croydon Skyline to be exact.

i dont take back what i said about the rb engine being the only one making sense in swapping into a 350z but i did read an article in a mag a couple days ago about someone swapping a sr20det engine in a 350z and had it tuned to some 450rwhp. not bad but still i dont understand why you wouldnt do the rb swap. maybe not the rb26 in his case, beings he wants it to drift, but why not a rb25det. doesnt weigh that much more when it comes to the weight of the 350z and it is a stronger engine capable of even higher numbers. for this i will never know.

I know which car you're talking about. The reason why they did not swap the RB into the Z is because the RB is much heavier than the SR. By swapping the SR into the Z, they shaved about 300-400lbs off of the car without even gutting the interrior. That's a lot of weight saved!! Putting an RB in the Z would imbalance the Z and make it nose heavy. Personally, If I had the money I would do the SR swap because it makes the Z so much lighter.

The only ones getting over 400-450 are ones with rebuilt engines, I believe SGP got into the 600 RWHP but with a rebuilt VQ35 where the put in forged internals and dropped the CR to 8.5 plus a TT kit. There are few people right now doing engine builds similar to that and will be int the 550-600 range.

I think the rims on that 350z is pretty nice. It looks like VOLKS rims. On the 350z with the RB26 engine from Top Secret it did reach 700 horsepower, and go I think about 46/54 weight distribution, which they say is pretty darn good for drifting, and that is what this 350z is for. It for drift competitions. So is the SR20 engine 350z from Signal. I believe the RB26 350z won the first drift competition that it was in. Top Secret makes some awsome cars >,< wish I had enough money to hire them to build my car=D or Mines would be an awsome company also. I hear they are currently making a monster 350z with the same VQ engine. =D can't wait for that.
