My 98 Intrigue is leaking oil around the oil pan gasket. Is there any way to tighten the bolts around this without pulling the engine? (3.8l)

I've had this problem for over 2 years but no one could find its source. "Guaranteed" oil stop-leaks did not work, nor did high mileage oil that is supposedly designed to keep seals from cracking, etc.

Two GM dealers in Tucson tried without success to find the leak as did Sears ("not their specialty") and Jiffy Lube ("we can't fix it but we'll try to find it"). Finally the local Chevrolet/GM dealer here (Sierra Vista) put a dye in the oil, used some type of fluroscope, and found the leak coming from the oil seal near the firewall side of the engine.

Solution ... continue to use a drip pan or pay over $300+ to replace the seal! Seems the location of the seal is not easily reached and "a lot of stuff" has to come down before they can get to it.

Our Intrigue has 112,000 miles on it and the oil leak is no worse now than it was two years ago.
