Window off track

not a mechanic!

:banghead: Does anyone know how to put a window back on track?

I have a 2001 Jeep Grand Cherokee, with power windows.

The window was rolled down approximately 1/4 of the way, and when I started to roll it back up, there was a noise and the window slowly went inside of the door.

Being mechanically challenged....I took the door panel off to see if this was something I could repair easily, but I am unsure what the next step would be.

Can anyone offer repair info, please???
Thanks,
Kim

If you get any replies, let me know. I just had the same thing happen to me while parking at the airport to go on vacation (oh the timing!). My window is now up and being held in place with a CD case as a wedge.

I recently had a similar problem,

Upon taking my door apart i found that there were two white plastic rollers that ride in the window track and one of them had split open relasing part of the regulator that was pressure fitted into it as a ball and socket joint.

called jeep and asked if it was a replaceable part and they said they could only get an entire new window track at $109.00

so i got on the computer and designed the part and sent it to the cnc machine and it looked perfect, only problem; it's such a tightly toleranced fit, when i tried to squeze my new ABS roller onto the ball joint it shattered.

so off to the junkyard i went, i looked through every early nineties dodge, chrysler, or jeep i could find and not one of them had the same part and although i found a hundred cherokees i did not find one grand cherokee and due to the extra front quarter window in the cherokee the entire mechanism is different so i thought i was gonna have to cough up the money.

2 hours after the junkyard i go with my special lady to a saturn dealership to look at new cars with her, and what do they have in showroom but a new model saturn station wagon that was cut in half to expose and show off all of it's innards. So curiosity takes over and i start looking around and i spy THE EXACT SAME PIECE that has been eluding me, so i put in a call to my brother-inlaw who happens to be a saturn service manager, and now i am waiting for my lady to return with her new car and my new part.
