This link might have that information:

thanks, I've been notified and have done 3 recalls over the years for my '95 GC. I've never looked at the service bulletins, so I wanted to review those for my GC model.

I read your brake(?) situation earlier and saw that this is a new GC for u. Verify the recalls were done for your model (I think carfax shows whether they were done or not). One was a shift interlock something or another, the others I forget.

Any idea how I can verify that they've been done? That's one of the questions I asked the dealer because the carfax report said: "Jeep does not report recalls to CarFax"! The previous owners didn't send any maintenance records along with it, and that would have been very helpful. Based on the condition of the exterior, interior and low miles (81K) I'd like to think that it's been well maintained, but you never know.

I'm thinking I could take it to a Jeep dealership and see if they could run the VIN to find out. Would that be an option?

Hey, guess what? You can check for recalls and stuff on the Jeep website:
http://www.jeep.com/webselfservice/jeep/index.jsp?screenName=recall&country=us&emailUrl=goToEmailForm%28%27R%27%29

You enter the last 8 digits of your VIN and it will tell you if the work has been performed. Unfortunately, it appears that the work has NOT been done on mine....

Guess I'll call the dealership on Monday to see what's involved in getting the fixes (disc brake rotors & floor shifter secondary detent system). Not sure if "free" service expires if the work's not done within a certain period of time. Don't understand idjits that let stuff like this slide....

Hey there, appreciate the info on the jeep site. Not only am I interested in any potential recalls that I missed, but also the service bulletins that come out over the years. These can shed light on potential problems that the dealerships are notified on how to fix, but are at our costs if a particular problem comes up on our vehicles.

Yep, I'm one of those idjits. See my comment under your brake/VC situation. We weren't looking at selling ours. It's a lifer up till it has to be towed away. But with my daughter now driving I wanted to be sure it's all safe as can be and reliable.

On the side, this past Tuesday I was at the web site for cafeshop. School is about to start for my daughters and I was looking at getting some t-shirts &/or hoodies printed up with relative summer items that they wanted to show off at school. I saw the web site listing earlier on your thread. Have you bought t-shirts and the like from them? If so, quality of the print pretty good? Is pricing reasonable? Thanks.

LOL!!!!! Sorry about the "idjits" comment! (Too funny--I literally laughed out loud, but I'm also embarrassed! Oh well!)

I'm going to call the local Jeep dealership (not where I bought this) tomorrow to check about the recalls and when I can get the repairs done (the sooner the better!). Glad to hear that apparently there's no time limit--makes sense, especially in a case where you buy a vehicle that hasn't had everything brought up to date.

And as to cafeshops, I guess the quality would depend on the individual shop, as they're all individually owned and operated. I just "opened" a shop a few weeks ago (the one linked in my signature) and so the "shelves" are still pretty bare. I decided to do this because I kept getting requests for and/or offers to buy some of my photographs. One of my photographs will be featured in the latest edition of a horticulture book. How cool is that?! (I'm actually incredibly flattered!) Anyhow, I have tons of ideas for items and designs, but not enough time to work on it consistently. Eventually it will have sections for gardening, cats (especially Siamese--I'm a crazy old cat lady....), art education, genealogy, etc. Who knows--maybe I'll have a Jeep section one day! Of course I can't use any of the logos, emblems or expressions that are already copyrighted by Jeep, but maybe I'll come up with something that will be appealing and original. Who knows? I haven't checked, but there might already be a Jeep store there. You could do a search from the main page....

The pricing is up to each individual store and from personal experience I don't think many people add a lot of markup. The trade off is that you're getting stuff that you won't find in Wal-Mart or KMart and I've been very impressed with the print quality of the things I've ordered, as have been the people who've ordered some of the items I'm offering.

Right now, though, the focus is on the upcoming school year. It would be very helpful if I had all of my lesson plans in line, but that hasn't happened! I've got 2 weeks before school starts (taught at a summer arts camp, so I didn't have a long break anyhow) and I just can't believe all that's got to happen between now and then. That's why I'm hoping that I'm not dealing with a whole lot of time-consuming and expensive issues with the Jeep. Aside from trying to get things done before the limited warranty runs out, I need to be ready to roll by the time the first bell rings! And in and around everything else, we also have to do a transmission swap (we think...) on my son's car. :banghead: Since HE'S got to have all work done before school, too, it's just been crazy in all directions. That's why I said in an earlier post that sometimes I was tempted to line up all of our vehicles and just push them over the nearest cliff! :lol2: (laughing to keep from crying!)

Oh, and if you'd like a laugh and to see something ELSE that's been rattling my cage this summer (aside from cars), check out my page about trying to install the preformed pond:

It's been one doozy of a summer! :banghead:

Well now don't be embarrassed, nor no apologies. I 'lol' myself when I read your comments earlier. I thought you might find it humorous. Maybe I'm not as safety consious as I should be. Thanks for the info on the store.

And I did read over the ongoing pond saga. And I did get a chuckle out of your efforts. Didn't laught at you, but your situation. U do know that big rocks do have little rocks that grow to be big rocks and so on. How else is it that people's yards get so congested with rocks. It's a population explosion down under, and I ain't talking Australia. I've had my share of Hole #2 rock also turning out to be the same as Hole #3 rock. I've thought either the rock is messing with me by scurrying underneath as I walk over to look in the other hole, or I've discovered that we're on the peak of newly discovered solid granite mountain range except that's it underground. One more solid gulley washer should just do it; that is, finish washing away my remaining soil exposing this boulder we're living on.

It's comforting to know that I'm not alone in these endeavors be it house, yard, and even the cars. If I had a dollar for each time I ever stepped back from a project and asked "why me?" Getting something done in 2 attempts and no more, is a good day for me.

Anywho, good luck on raising the grade to match the pond.

Sharon,

I checked out the site you recommended in my post about recalls and service bulletins. I also did a search for service bulletins through Google. Go to http://home.sc.rr.com/janet/. Look at bulletin no. 05-09-96 about brake noise. It's general noise but read the part about the ABS/clunk. Don't know that this will resolve all issues, but another tid bit of info to muddy the waters.

I left the same note at your brake post.

On the side, skim through these particular bulletins and note ones for referral if u ever develop these particular problems. Some bulletins simply inform shops of better procedures for a given fix than originally planned when a new model was released. Other bulletins are clearly fixes for discovered model/part defects. Jeep/Chrysler may not pay anything, but they might if u get in their face.

Also, do not ever replace ABS control module, or whatever Jeep calls theirs. I replaced one in a used Volvo through a shop for $650. Just came across a site that repairs the bad components inside the box for like $150 and guarantees the work. :banghead: :crying: :banghead:
