1995 blazer won't start

Had no problems, no noises, was fine when I shut it down the night before. Didn't leave anything on overnight, but the next morning, it won't turn over. All the gauges come on, the battery volt is down around 9 or so. Tried to jump it and it wouldn't start. So am I looking at a battery, alternator or starter?

Start with your battery. This is a very common problem especially in the summer time.

Okay, got battery checked and it is fine. Reinstalled it. Everything comes on. I'm not thinking alternator because nothing is dimming out. My father said possibly starter? I didn't think so because you can turn it on, it just won't actually turn over.

Start with a new soleniod, and then go to the starter. One thing also to do, turn your key to start, go to the back and see if your fuel pump is working. Good luck.

I had the same problem with my 93 S-10 . Try taking a metal rod approx. 2 feet long, a tire iron will work. You can probably see the starter/solenoid by looking under the right front tire well. Tap on the solenoid with the rod about three times, generous taps but not too hard, then try starting the truck. My started like that for two weeks before I could get the starter repalced. If it starts, you'll have a pretty good idea that it is a bad solenoid.

How did they test the battery?

Go and lightly tap the starter with a hammer and try to start it.

I don't hear anything when I turn the key. All the dash lights come on, the seat belt warning buzzes, then nothing. I found out where the fuel pump relay switch is, but what am I looking for in that?

Also, when I pump the gas pedal before turning the key, I'm not smelling any fuel. It just won't turn over.

Nevermind, the fuel pump kicked on. Now I'm thinking its either not getting enough spark to turn over, or the distributor cap?

Ok, hold on there.

After two minutes, when you turn the key to the "on" position (not start), you should hear a buzz for two seconds and then it will shut off meaning the prime is complete.

Do you hear this noise?

Also, do NOT touch the gas when statrting a fuel injection vehicle. Very very bad. You can hydrolock the engine with unburnt gas and you probably have introdeced gas into you oil now.

The only time you touch the gas is to put the gas all the way to the floor which will shut off the gas flow to unflood a vehicle.

What are you talking about turning over? Engine turning over is when the starter is rolling the motor over for starting. Turning over has nothing to do with spark.

Spark means that the engine is firing.

To test whether the plugs are getting power, take a plug out, insert it into the plug wire and press the electrode onto something metal and you should see spark.

Have you even removed the cap and rotor yet?

I think I would suspect the distributor module next. If you remove the distributor cap and rotor you will see it in the distributor with the wiring harness attached, usually held in place with a couple of screws. Some parts stores can check them before you buy a new one.

when turn the key nothing happens at all right, just lights come on, do you have a theft light thats blinking??? if you do take the covers off the steering column and undo the e5 bolts holding the electrical part of the ignition switch to the column use a screw driver and start the car if it starts and shuts off after 2 seconds your lock cylinder is bad. i just had this happen to me in another vehicle. if you turn it and nothing happens it may be the electronic part of the switch.

let me know

also when you key the car on,not starting you will hear a light hum that is the fuel pump it does it for a few seconds and stops, also if its bad the car will still crank. t see if its the starter put a test light to the small wire going to the starter have someone turn the key see if it lights up.
