1992 SHO Hood.Nova-Hopefull 08-11-2004, 10:15 PM I need to replace a few parts on my '92 Sho. It got hit by a deer not moving very fast so it isnt all that major, I need a new hood, will a regular taurus hood work? do they look the same? And the right headlight mount thing cracked (the black plastic thing that holds the lights in the right position) The light works but its just kinda in hangin there. The black thing goes all the way across to both of the headlights. Anyone know where i can get either of these? deadlight 08-12-2004, 06:19 AM Sorry but the hood won't work, it *will* fit, but I wouldn't try it, the intake manifold will bump against the hood and if you have broken motor mounts, a common problem for SHO's, then you could even dent the hood, I've seen it done, but you're better off just getting an SHO hood. I'd imagine you could find another headlight mounting bracket in the junkyard, the headlights, tail lights, and glass all swap over from a normal Taurus. gbear711 08-30-2004, 07:41 PM I hit a deer with my 93 - used a mercury sable hood - no problems. Also used sable head lights FlamingTaco 08-30-2004, 11:21 PM If you are going to have to bite the full price bullet on an SHO hood, you might want to look here: http://www.cincysho.com/fiberglassHood.htm for a "performance" replacement. Otherwise, you are going to have to search the junkyards for an SHO hood. Don't get fooled by the looks. The 92-95 SHO hood skin is the same as the Sable hood, but there are major changes to the supporting structure of the hood to get it to fit over the motor. Both the Sable and the regular Taurus hoods will fit, but leave less that 1/4" between the hood's center crossbeam and the SHO intake, and any movement of the motor will put serious cramp in your day. An option, however, might be to salvage the SHO exclusive beams from your old hood and have them welded to a regular hood. 93SHOcarguy 09-14-2004, 10:24 PM The header pannel (black thing) from a regular Taurus will not work. However one from a Mercury Sable will. Also regular Taurus headlights are a little different. As for the Sable hood, I'm not sure. I'm building a couple of SHOs now. I'll have to try that and see. If you're still needing parts, shoot me an e-mail. If I don't have what you're looking for, The local salvage yard has a couple. 93shocarguy@cableone.net vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
