timingjoesix21 08-11-2004, 01:18 PM Does advancing your ignition timing give you more power and better gas mileage and if it does how much can i advance it with regular 87 octane gas. boosted k20 08-12-2004, 04:43 PM yes advancing timing gives u more HP and better fuel economy. and if ur advancing the timing, u should up the octane content of the gas u put in your car. your gonna need a timing light in order to advance the timing. i dont know what car u have, but stock timing for an integra is 16 degrees. i advanced my timing to 18 degrees and im using 89 octane. if u wanna advance it more than that then u should use 91 or higher octane. but too much advance timing is a :nono: u can cause detonation and really screw things up with ur motor. If ur gonna advance the timing, make sure u have a TIMING LIGHT! gunnmen01 08-12-2004, 07:04 PM or get adjustable cam gear and advace it a couple degrees gunnmen01 vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
