I definitely like the front of the car, but despite the conventional boot im still not keen on the rear; it's very plain and unimaginative and reminds me of the old Toyota Avensis. The interior looks fairly unexciting too and its a shame that it's no longer driver focused (controls facing the driver). Performance figures are a marginal improvement on the current 3 -series (E46). The article says that the top of the range 330i will hit sixty in the low 6's - the revised 3 litre engine's added power offset by a 100kg increase in the car's weight - but the cars are rumoured to get 6-speed boxes as standard and maintain the 50/50 weight distribution.

Overall I think it's an interesting design but it looks noticeably bigger than the current 3-series (E46), which they try to hide with the heavily sculpted sides.

The last two generations of 3-series coupes (or 4-series as they will be badged in future) look much sleeker than the 4-doors and i think the front of the E90 will make for a very good looking coupe. Hopefully it will also have a more interesting rear design.

Yep it screams Japan to me too, an Avensis to be precise. Then again the E46 sedan doesnt have the most attractive rear light cluster.

the front looks too much like the 5's! no good! at least they are giving it more power, that has been long needed in the e46's. I guess i will have to get used to BMW's new styling. I like the new 7's a lot and the X3's look really nice from the front (I saw one for the first time in a parking lot the other day). Im not so sure about the new 6,5,or 3's (or 4 or whatever they will be badged).

I would have to agree with you. I dont know if i feel that strongly about it, but I definitly dont like the way its going. They are starting to look like hyudai's or something japanese. NO GOOD!

Its just not european anymore....The only way I would buy one of these is if it was under 10k like some of the jap. economy cars are....In short its ugly, and at this rate in 10 years a lambo and ferrari will be identical to the ford mustang...

Yeah, I agree, it doesn't have the European BMW likeness look anymore...but maybe it will grow on me after seeing it live...anyone know when it will be in the local dealers?

I love my old E36. Clean sides without disturbing wrinkels.

The first time I saw pics of E90, I did not like it...but after looking at alot of pics of it, it is starting to win me over. I won't preorder it anytime, I would like to see it in person when it comes out. Oh, btw, some more pics are here http://club3series.com/photopost/index.php

nothing on the market today, produced by bmw or otherwise, has quite the styling of e30 2dr. This car is a true piece of German art. Nothing has ever looked like an e30 since. The Pictures above remind me of a hyundai tiberon. the e36, although somewhat less atractive than the classic e30, to myself anyhow, is the pinnacle of the style/peformance balance. The e36 is from the era when bmw's primary focus was on producing quality driving machines, now they create vehicles and looks for target markets.
