interference enginechaz132 08-09-2004, 10:16 PM just wondering if anyone has a list of interference engines? or any good resource as to which cars have them? specificly I am looking at the toyota echo engine Reed 08-10-2004, 08:57 PM in know that the 4g63 is interference MagicRat 08-10-2004, 10:00 PM Is this for curiosity or maintenance? The only time this becomes relevant is when someone has the bright idea of not changing the timing belt until it breaks. Usually this is a bad and expensive idea. Most engines are interference. The only ones I know of that are NOT are the Ford 2.3 L 4 cyl, (the old designs dating from the early '70's to the 90's, used in Ford Mustangs, most recently) and the later Fiat (Bertone) X1/9 engines. For Toyota, I expect it is, but call the service dept of your local Toyota dealership. They will know. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
