Power Steering '98 Chevy Lumina 3100mcaltree 08-09-2004, 09:09 AM I have a '98 Lumina with a strange steering problem. The car will turn left with no problem at all with power assisted steering, but will not turn right unless I pull full strength with both arms. This does not occur all the time though, and it does not matter if warm or cold. Does anyone have a possible solution to the problem? Did you have yours checked out by a dealer? mcaltree 08-11-2004, 07:38 AM Many of the Luminas were recalled with for potential steering problems. Did you have yours checked out by a dealer? No, I haven't had it checked by a dealer yet, but the car does have a dated recall sticker on the radiator housing under the hood. Maybe there is a problem still even after the recall. Thanks for the info, and I'll keep you posted. jeffcoslacker 08-13-2004, 11:35 AM Many FWD GM cars suffered from morning sickness caused by degredation of seals in the rack. Always occured when cold, though. Yours may have some kind of spool valve issue. I would remove some fluid and replace with Lucas P/S fluid or KW TransSeal and see if it clears up before replacing the rack. jeffcoslacker 08-15-2004, 04:58 PM GTLumina was right, I found the bulletin, and the problem was exactly as you described it. Lean on the dealer for a recall repair. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
