Oil in the exhaust

When i start my rig up its a 91 s10 blazer 4.3 engine the exhaust is dark black and it shoots an oily residue onto the pavement. you can scrape it up with your thumb. It also has an excessive amount of smoke. It can be warmed up to normal temp of 210 and it still smokes like this when idling. I replaced the tailpipe a month ago it was broke off but the problem persists. I am going to replace pvc valve and o2 sensor but i dont have any ideas. Is it possible the head gasket might be going is gone? Let me know if you have any ideas. Thanks

s10BLAZERMAN:
probably isnīt oil at your tail pipe, could be and mixture carbon, water (cat residual) and gas not burned, i found a severous leak inside the injector camber (plenum) in my 4.3L W CPI, the hose line it was ripped, and i found an hole that connect this camber to a middle pistons ( 3 and 4), you can check this sparks plugs, then check for leaks above. Good luck

You are running extremely rich by the sounds of it.

Is the smoke black or blue?

Ok, some white smoke at the start is normal which is the water in the system evaporating.

BUT, does this white and billowy smoke continue all the time? Even when it is completely warmed up and you drive it?

for about 5 minutes after ward to it is put in drive

Unfortunately you need and engine overhaul, black smoke is normally when engine is too rich, blue smoke is oil which means your engine is burning oil due to worn rings, and white smoke, a lot of it is when your head gasket is gone. If you have blue smoke try 20-50 oil as well as a Motor Medic or Motor Honey, that might help the smoking but would only be temporarily .

Ummmmm. No, his timing could be severely retarded or a tuneup is required.

Definitely too much fuel.

where did this come from about the tuneup and what not?I had have plugs and a fuel filter pcv valve put on it.I run quiet smooth no idle problems no stalling problems runs really great just an oil leak

I'm sorry but puking out black smoke from the tailpipe is not "running great".

you have a timing problem.

Check it with the timing wire disconnected.

I only get a little black smoke at startup. It goes on the sidewalk, followed by the white smoke for 4-6seconds then good to go.Runs smooth and quiet, only leaks oil.

Had plugs, belt, fuel filter, pcv valve replaced.Drives good just the above

Cap and Rotor?
Timing checked and adjusted?

Its not missing at idle and cap and rotor less than 5000 miles on them.

have you checked the timing?

s10blazerman4x4

no but its not off like you would expect. It was adjusted in february with the new belt

New belt? The serpintine belt has nothing to do with the timing.

Check the timing with the timing wire unconnected from the ECM.

If you have black smoke coming out your tailpipe, you are running rich.

I paid 10 bucks to have it checked.Seem right? He said it was advanced by 2 so he put it back to 0.Seem right? Also does 6hrs labor and 60 for parts seem right for the rear main seal.He quoted me 380 which he said was about 25 bucks higher than the labor and parts but he said that will come off if he doesnt need extra gaskets and what nots

First off, did you have the timing wire disconnected?
