Considering things...

Well, I've more or less accepted the fact that my Metro's 3 banger engine is worn out. I'm below minimum cylinder pressure on all three cylinders. I assume the rings are worn, plus a burnt valve. I'm considering three options. 1: Try to sell it, and gather up money to buy something else. 2: Try to find a good running 3 cylinder from a junkyard, or 3: Do a bit of rebuilding. The spare head I got from the guy when I bought the car also has a burnt valve on the number 3 combustion chamber. I don't have very much money, so if I did take the rebuild route, I'd do it cheaply as I could. I'd take a valve from the spare head and use it to replace the burnt valve in the head that's on the car now. I'd probably then drop the oilpan and crankshaft, pull the pistons and install new rings and hone the bores a bit. My brother's boss has a garage with lots of air tools and some honing equipment. What do you people think of that plan? If I did choose to rebuild, what kind of expense would I be looking at?

Hey Infi:
Remember: there is a difference between "unexpensive repairs" and "cheap repairs". The second option are the kind of repairs you do with some bubble-gum, shoe glue and a hammer. Not very confi dough.
I would recommend checking the whole head, replace ALL valves with new ones (all gaskets and seals included) besides the new piston rings you were telling about.

Hope this helps you pal.

MC. :)
