94 GC V8 starting trouble

I read through the archives and noticed several people saying that the fuel pump often needs to be replaced. The engine will start and run fine just not all the time. it seem to not like the cool texas 75-80 degree mornings but by noon when the temp is over 90 it will start and run fine. It will continue to start and run until the early morning hours 3-5AM when the air seems to cool down too much then it starts over again. today the temperate never did break 90 and it would not start at all. I am hoping it is just a fuel filter but since it wouldn't start I couldn't take it to have it checked. I get no check engine light so no code being reported there. have tried to swap relays since that also was mentioned as part of the solution for someone else that was also temp/humidity related.

Sometimes when it does start it runs very rough and when given gas will die immediately but normally will start fine the next attempt. It only ever once showed these rough idle while driving but that was after several hours of constant driving and when the air temp had dropped below 90.

at first I thought it was bad gas but I am really just guessing.

Thanks For Any Help

HI, CAN YOU HEAR THE FUEL PUMP RELAY CLICK WHEN YOU TURN THE KEY ON? DOES IT START NOW? HAVE YOU CHECK ED FOR SPARK AT BOTH THE PLUGS AND AT THE COIL WIRE. PULL THE COIL WIRE FROM THE DISTRIBUTOR CAP HOLD TO A GROUND CRANK ENGINE SEE IF YOU GET SPARK. THEN REPLACE WIRE PULL A PLUG WIRE GROUND IT CRANK ENGINE SEE IF YOU GOT SPARK THERE. GIVE A HOLLER AT jeepman600@aol.com DALE
