93 GC 4.0l:Vehicle has a delayed start during which the shut down relay can be heard clicking then after 2-3 minutes of sitting with the ignition switch in the "ACC" position; it will start and run ok.

HI, HOW DO YOU KNOW THAT IT IS THE ADS RELAY CLICKING. WHAT HAPPENS IF YOU TRY TO START IT. DID YOU TRY SWITCH THE RELAY WITH ONE OF THE OTHERS THEY ARE ALL THE SAME. IF RELAY IS BAD NAPA $ 8 DALE :smokin: jeepman600@aol.com

I am having the exactly same problem on my 93 GCL 4.0 I even tried a new fuel pump to see if mine was a malfunctioning one, but it wasn't. However now it takes more then ten minutes for all the relays to click, if they do at all. I think it might be something with the auto shutdown system that won't let it complete the circuit to turn on the fuel pump. Already tried all new relays, new battery, new ignition coil, plugs+wires, fuel pump. Does Anyone know what sensors trip the auto shut down even before the car is turned on?

Also when i get the thing (Jeep, not just ANYthing) running it idles a little roughly and under quick acceleration it chokes, if too quickly it will die out as if its not getting gas. Does your Jeep dop that? (by the way the fuel pressure is constatly between the 33-38 psi range, but when heavy throttle is applied it actually jumps to near 40 psi) Is a bad injector able to cause the auto shutdown to be tripped? and perhaps cause my choking engine, or is it most likely to be a PCM malfunction?

Too many questions, and not one professional mechanic I have spoken to been able to give me an answer. :banghead:

I got the rough idiling and choking under hard acceleration out, it was the ignition coil. However it still does the cranking without starting part because there is no fuel being sent, most of the time, unless the relays go into their crazy clicking stage.

Dealers have mentioned the CPS, but is that linked to the Fuel delivery system?

I being inclined to belive its the PCM that has gone bad. It hums when the key is on the ON position and the person who owned it last had the coolant resevoir cap missing, therefore often drenching the PCM with a daily dosage of coolant. And the check engine light will not come on for ANYTHING. not even when you try to get the codes out ( on;off, on;off, on;off, on).

Please give advice, its been a few weeks I have been dealing with this and I just cant give up on this Jeep. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
