2000 blazer 4x4 Low Fuel, electrical discharge

I have a 2000 blazer 4x4, the other week I noticed that the fuel gauge gives false readings after the low fuel ligth comes on. This pass weekend after the low fuel light cam on, all my dash gauges started flickering and flashing, and acting erratic. Also the alternator gauge shows a lower charge. I stopped for fuel, and needed a jump to restart, got that drove home fine afterwards.

today I watched carefully as I approached Low Fuel, it came on, and within 5 miles the alternator guage showed a lower charging level. I quickly stopped for gas, and topped-off. Alternator kept a low level charge for a short period then returned to normal.

I asked my local chevy service about this, they asked if my service engine light was on, or any codes. I didn't get any of those...

any suggestions on what is causing this problem that only occurs shortly after "low fuel" light comes on???

check the wiring to the low fuel light.

Chances are you have a short in one of the wires.

Don't let it go, this could cuase some major problems.
