Well I have a 96 JGC its my second one and I love them. I had a Laredo and now a limited. 130K is not bad for a 9 yr old vehicle. DRIVE it. Shake the vehicle see if there are any pops and pings. Don't forget to shift the transfercase and check the 4WD out. Look under the vehicle and see if there are any fluid leaks of any kind, wheel seals both front and back, T-Case, oil pan, Trans pan. Just look it over thoroughly. That would be my suggestion. 3400 is an awsome price for a vehicle that is in as good of shape as you say. 14.5K miles a year is not very much. I do that in 5 months! Good luck on that vehicle.

I know the V8 is a power house for this vehicle. I have the I6 4.0 so I do not know about problems with the V8 if there are any. Sorry

The Price you gotta pay to drive a Jeep GC. Remember folks this is considered a luxury vehicle. If you want gas mileage buy a Geo Metro!

Both the V8 and the I6 are decent motors. The V8s do get worse milage than the 4.0 though. Both make decent power(190hp for the I6 and 220 for the V8) for the size vehicle. A lot of people swear by the 4.0 but I have 125K miles on my V8 and it works well. I don't mind giving up a couple of mpg for a few extra hp.

BTW $3400 sounds like a pretty decent price.

Euroguy, u buy this car yet? That good a shape don't hang around long. If u haven't bought it, I may have to go after it. I've a '95 Laredo 4x4 with 4.0 I6 with 180K. Great car. No problems, except for the poor engineered exhaust manifold. That set me back $800. Only if it's safety related do they usually recall it and cover cost. This is one spilt milk that I still have trouble getting over. Enough of that. Great car. Did u buy?

According to the insurance companies in my state, the Jeep Grand Cherokee is considered a luxury SUV. As a result, I have to pay an inflated luxury fee...FYI.
