I've been hearing a cracking/clicking sound in the front end of my 99 GC when I make turns at low speeds. Is this related to the Steering Gear Box at all? - it is not leaking or anything. Any help would be much appreciated. Thank you.

check the CV joints at the ends of the front axles.

Usually if the joints are gone you will find the boots are cracked through, the grease is thrown out and dirt has entered the assembly. the wear in the joint causes the clicking sound you describe.

Sounds more like linkage problems, if the cracking is not related to wheel speed, that is if it sounds like growning and stiff steering, lube all the points in the front end, there should be like 7-9 points.
