I have a 92 E-150 Van Conversion. Everytime you push the foot brake it doesn't lock instead it goes all the way and come back to off position. Can some body help me what's wrong with it? Thanks.

check the release on the handle that you use to disengage the ebrake, it could have simply gotten somthing stuck in it that holds the handle forewards, if that is not the case, then there is somthing wrong with the actualengage release mechanism, and in that case I'm sorry but I'd be of no help

It sounds like the ratchet spring is either missing or broken. Not working in any event.

I'm not too sure if it is a serviceable item.

I do know that replacing the PB actuator is FUN (not), although not difficult. Sorta like wresteling a small octopus. You'll win and probabally won't get hurt, but it's no fun.

I took the whole assembly out with the cable is attached and it looks like there is no serviceable parts. You are right it looks like the gear is either strip of there is a spring missing to hold the lock. I guess it is time to bring it to the dealer. Thanks for everybody's help really appreciated it. Hope no more hard problems exist. Thanks again.

If you have the thing out, replacement is EASY now. Just buy one from the dealer, don't pay them $250+ to install it too!

You've done so much already, I hate to have you spend $$ needlessly.

Mod, Thanks a lot. That is a good idea. At least I don't need to pay for labor. Thanks for your advise. Take care.
