How do you find error codes?

Do you have to take the car in or is there a way to figure this out?

It depends....the do-it-yourself stores have diagnostic tools you can borrow or buy but they don't read all the codes....for that the only place I know for sure is a dealership....they have access to all the codes and the best equipment.

Ok...cause my car is having a long cranking time and then starts. Had a local shop take a look and the fuel pressure regulator did not have fuel or pressure and he told me it could be that or fuel pump or something else and I should have it dianostic done to be sure

I sent an e-mail to that site and the responses the guy gave were terrible. Now, when I first e-mailed him I thought that his site (kinda strange design of the site too) was offering some free or open source software that could be used with various scan tools. I now realize that he is selling a product combo of a scan tool and software.

I sent him two e-mails, the first was asking if there was a way, in his software, to define the baud rate of the serial port the tool was on. His response was simply...

"Cable will not work."

No hello, goodbye, or anything. So I write back and asked him is he plans to add that feature to a new release. he sent back the following and nothing else...

"No support for ELM cable"

Now if he would have just taken a second in the first response to let me know that his software is only for his scan tool or something instead of giving me these short reponses then I would have greatly appreciated it. Also, after being treated like that there is no way I would buy his stuff... and I think I am in the market for a new scan tool right now too.
