Gas gauge problempraqc 08-01-2004, 04:59 PM Hi guys, what's up!? Well, I've gotta question here. First of all, I've got a 1996 Cavalier with the 2.2 engine and an auto transmission. A couple months ago the gas gauge stopped reading accurately; it just moved however it wanted. But now it just stopped working. Now it marks as if the tank was always full. How can I fix this problem? OK, thanks a lot in advance! :smokin: Sight N Sound 08-01-2004, 09:55 PM go to the dealer they have to replace the sensor. I had mine done 2 years ago for free. It was in a service bullitin..... ChodeMuffin 08-25-2004, 12:11 AM well if its always full then u wont have to worry about filling it up.... : o JeSsToNeS 08-26-2004, 03:16 PM my 93 z24 does the same thing everytime the needle passes the half marker on the gas gage. The needle will go where it wants, when it wants. I'll have a half tank and after 10 minutes of driving it'll be on E, then it'll go up to 3/4ths then back to half. richtazz 08-28-2004, 04:25 PM you both have fuel level sensors going bad piledriver 08-28-2004, 05:36 PM same thing with my 2001 cav..cost me 45 for a tow and 48$ for them to find the problem and now they say the sensor will cost approx 100...do you know where i can get a copy of the service bulliten ?? vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
