Car shakes when I brake only between 90 to 80 km/h FARHAD 07-30-2004, 04:44 AM
My 97 BMW 528i shakes when I brake only between 90 to 80 km/h. Can someone please explain what is the problem? Rotors, wheels or smthng else? Thanks in advance, Farhad Antiburn 07-30-2004, 06:56 AM You know when the last time you had a brake job done? That might tell you something if its been a while. hurley9192 07-30-2004, 11:07 PM I had the same thing on my 97 528...turned out to be the rear bushings needed to be replaced. 3bimmers 08-01-2004, 08:00 AM It could be the brakes, but most probably the front control arm bushings are shot. Inspect them for cracks. Original rubber bushings give out periodically; replace with urthane for better handling and longer life. Also, torn dust boots on the ball joints indicate need for replacement. Andy server_bmw 08-25-2004, 11:36 AM Your control bushings are done man. However, braking from 90-80 downwards must be done firmly in order to stop the shaking and to brake safely (Try that). If not, then your front rotors are warped. Thanks server gomer12 08-28-2004, 12:06 AM i would suggest either getting new rotors or gettin the old ones recut Related Links Enter the largest automotive community on the planet! |
