My 1995 Jeep Cherokee was just purchased a few months ago. Right away we noticed that the front wheels would lock / vibrate if the wheels were turned too far, like when attemping u-turns, doing three-point turns, or backing out of driveways. We took the vehicle to a Jeep dealorship and they informed us that both front axles needed to be replaced (something about the seals leaking, and the fact that they could not replace ball bearings), so we dumped about $1600 into getting new axles, as well as correcting a smaller problem with the back axles (replacing fluid). However, the problem is still evident. I assume they put on used parts from a wrecked vehicle, so maybe the new axles are a problem, but I feel there is something else going on. I cannot spend much more on this vehicle, because it is not worth much more than $4000, but I need my 4x4 for this winter. Is this a common problem with vehicles, especially this make and model? Could there be something else wrong besides the axles?

P.S. I plan on returning the vehicle to the shop and complaining, but wanted to know more first so they do not take advantage of me more that they probably already did. HELP!!!
