It could be a number of things, but more than likely you are just burning it.

1. pull your plugs and take a look at them.
2. take a look at your coolant too, and make sure your oil isn't going
there.

I am not big into additives, but here is one that really works.

www.auto-rx.com

It is a concentrated form of esters. The same type of esters used in the better synthetic motor oils, but highly concentrated. It will gently clean all the gunk and varnish from your engine and allow your seals and rings to better mate to the metal surfaces. It does not swell or condition seals, just cleans them.

for independant views of this product, go to www.bobistheoilguy.com and click on forums then additieves.

Like I said, I am not into additives, but this one may help you out.

I purchased a 91 metro with 134,000 miles on it. It was burning about 1 quart per 1,000 miles. I am now down to about 1/4 quart per 1000 miles.

Good luck!

Bart, this is very important, follow the instructions that come with, or that are posted on the web site.

For your car you will need two treatment. It comes in a 12 oz bottle. It works on a ratio of 2 oz per 1 quart of oil. Our cars hold about 3.7 quarts with filter.

So you will need 2 treatments of about 8 oz each, thus you are going to need to bottles.

Change oil and filter, add 8 oz and drive for 1,500 miles
Change oil and filter, and drive with plain oil for 2,000 miles
Change oil and filter, add 8 oz and drive for 1,000 miles
Change oil and filter, and drive for another 2,000=3,000 miles

Your will start to notice a decrease in oil consumption during that second
"rinse" fase. The process works slowly so be patient. It is not an instant type thing.

Also make sure you read the www.bobistheoilguy.com forum section under additives.

Good luck!
