Hey Everyone,
I have an 89 Blazer 2 WD with 4.3L TBI V6.
I got it a year ago 120K Passed Emisions test really well I changed the plugs and oil that was it.
I noticed that when ever I start it, it idles really high at first, then comes down after 10-15 seconds in the summertime, longer in winter.
I still think the idle is high when it drops down.
I put a timing light on it, and the timing was really advanced, so I brought it down to the middle noth on the guide.
Later I discovered that you have to unplug the tan-black wire under the heater compartment inside the vehicle to set the idle properly.
I have now set the timing, still idles High

The reason I am looking into this, is now before I played with the timing it started missing. Also If I floor it, there is no hesittion, however I am starting to smell the catalytic converter.

I will probably pick up a at catalytic converter, but wondering if the high Idle is causing problems. Any Ideas suggestions ?

Seems real common on the older S10s. Search it over for a vacuum leak, and there is an adjustment on the throttle body for idle, covered up with a seal disc though, but basically, these just idle fast on startup for some reason. When they start running bad, often it's the fuel pump getting weak, gradually get worse.

Hey Tom,

Thanks for getting back to me on this.
I have already replaced the Fuel pump and fuel tank last year.
I will check for a vacuum leak and see if I can figure something out.
