92 Metro auto trans shifts too early

I have to manually move the shifter from 1 through 3, or else the tranny decides to go 1-2-3 before 15 MPH. Any ideas?

Sounds like your throttle valve cable needs to be adjusted.

My 2000 had a similar problem. It turned out to be the back up light fuse, which also powers the solenoids that shift the transmission. (mine stayed in 3rd at all times) I don't know if this is a similar car, but it might be worth checking.

Sounds like your throttle valve cable needs to be adjusted.That is the cable sitting on top of the tranny, right?

There are two cables on top. One is the shifter. It's on the left. The one on the right is the throttle valve cable. Sounds like it's too loose.
