Hydrolocked my car twice last night :(2002Drew 07-26-2004, 05:24 PM Rain in Atlanta was FUBAR. Twice i hit deep ass puddles, and the car wouldn't restart for about 10 minutes. Sigh....I think the engine's ok tho, but man, nothin' like that to get you worrying. :( Civic_D16Y5 07-27-2004, 01:13 AM f*ck that sucks, i have no real fender wall or splash guard, whatever that ting is dirctly in front of the wheel, on my passenger side, right where the intake is ::eep:: its scary driving in the rain for me Chanoism 07-27-2004, 06:06 PM I know exactly what you mean, My car locked on me as well a couple of weeks ago, it was pouring out, I stalled right in the middle of this huge puddle. I was able to start it up again and roll right out, Luckliy there was no major damage to my engine. But I also dont have no wheel well cover where my intake is, So Im a nervous wreck when it starts pouring and im driving. megaman277 07-28-2004, 11:25 AM hey u should do what i do...pull over on the side of the road and take your cold air off...even if u have to have shitty airbox in your trunk better safe than sorry Civic_D16Y5 07-29-2004, 01:12 AM i think when winter comes, if it possible to convert my cai into a ram air ... if its possible im doing it, just to be safe, then when snow is gone, im going back to cold CivicLx 07-29-2004, 02:04 PM You're lucky you got your car started. I wasn't so lucky when I hit a puddle...in of all places...Arizona. It was dark so I couldn't see much and I hit a huge puddle going about 45 and the car never started after that. I had to get a new engine...luckily my insurance help cover it. Ever since then I was afraid to drive in the rain. Then it happened to me again here in NoCal a little over a year ago. This time I was able to start my car after a few minutes. I finally just shortened the intake so now it sits right under the hood. edman24 07-29-2004, 03:51 PM Rain in Atlanta was FUBAR. Sigh....I think the engine's ok tho, but man, nothin' like that to get you worrying. :( you didnt "hydrolock" your motor. you merely soaked your filter and it wouldnt let enough air through. "hydrolocking" is when the water actually passes your filter and enters the cylinders during combustion. this is very bad and ruins the motor completely. you would not have been able to start it up again. Nonetheless, my MAIN problem now is getting my free tires from the f****** dealership because i get lifetime tires, but they have to ALL 4 be down to 2/32. My front was that low 2k miles ago, but my rear was 4/32. i thought about just rotating and doing a burnout infront of the dealership, but last time i tried that with my old car, i got banned from a dealership. It's funny how easily you can get banned from a dealership. I'm banned from Perimeter Ford for the burnout, and North Point Ford for pushing over a desk when they refused to fix my car EVEN THOUGH THERE WAS A RECALL ON THE DEFECTIVE PART!! Sigh... Miataracer 08-03-2004, 01:57 AM lol, i like people who dont take bullshit. if i was there to see the desk get pushed over i probably would have pissed myself from laughing too hard sageuvagony 08-03-2004, 01:58 AM That is funny as hell... You have some balls to do that! lol.. I would have done the same with the tires thing. shit.... they want the tires worn down to a certain level? Then I'm GOING to give them worn tires. Jas_M 08-03-2004, 03:49 AM i think when winter comes, if it possible to convert my cai into a ram air ... if its possible im doing it, just to be safe, then when snow is gone, im going back to cold Or you could just buy a bypass valve for $30 and not have to worry about switching back and forth. edman24 08-04-2004, 02:38 PM Or you could just buy a bypass valve for $30 and not have to worry about switching back and forth. bypass valves work to some extent but will not help if you suck up too much water. if you submerge your filter then youre done no matter how many bypass valves you have. and wow thats so crazy about the tire thing and pushing the desk over. i would have loved to have seen it. kingdave123 08-05-2004, 01:12 AM i think im gonna try that desk thing sometime, whether it be during class or at work... etc... i think it may be an effective tactic in either getting what you want or getting arrested!! love that shit mang. DAMN THE MAN! 2002Drew 08-12-2004, 10:49 PM it's funny, i'm not one of those people that pulls that kind of shit.(despite what my signature may say) I was just tired of being dicked around. There was a recall on the rear end because it sounded like a freight train when you decelerated. They said "it's your dual exhaust making that noise." I took the guy for a ride in my car, decelerated, made the noise, and he was like "yup, it's your exhaust." Another dealership, notorious in the dealership circles for being "honest", told me the other place was just trying to get out of having to do work that was going to cost ford. By the time i found THAT out, i already had my civic. Oh well. I got away without having to deal with the cops, luckily my record consists of speeding violations, and that's it. Cops are one of the many reasons why i RARELY react that way. Besides, i was just trying to push his monitor off, but when it went to the other corner, it just took the whole desk with it.
