Dash Display different symbols for USA and canada

Just one question , I

why on the dash display when the door is open, the canadian aztek shows a car with a door open, or the trunk with the hatch open, but on the american car it says the problem in words? such as Door Ajar

does this mean americans cant figure out the picture? or does it mean canadians cant read? Im not sure i like any answer

seems really weird why they would do such a thing, why not have it standard?

now if u have a really nerdy technical answer, please loosen your pocket protector, take a deep breath, take the dungeons and dragons dice out of your pocket before u hurt yourself and go do some math equations untill you calm down,

anyway, i think i would rather have the picture onthe display, so when a light comes up that i dont know what it is, i feel like im on a treasure hunt, looking for that little symbol in the owners manual, kinda fun till u find out its something bad

anyway comments welcome about this

I think it may be a case of differances in auto-industry standards between the 2 countries. Also perhaps the pictures would tend to cross lanquage barriors better (once you learn the symbols of course)

I am with Chameleon and am going to say it's just standards in the two countries. I will say that I do wish we had the pictures though. Another reason I think they have the text instead of pictures is because of the education of the United States. The automotive industry, and I concur, realize that the U.S. is too stupid when it comes to cars and taking care of them anymore. Like the people I work with, we have a small size television production truck with a diesel engine, I started working there this past December and they hadn't changed the oil in the truck in over 13 months they estimated. C'mon people, it's a diesel and those things need to be changed like clockwork, but they were too dumb to realize it needed to be changed more often. Here are some though that really drive me nuts.

Temp Guage - Canada gets to read the actual temperature of the engine within a range where the U.S. just gets an H (Hot) or C (Cold) for their display.

Door Ajar - we get a text message unlike most other GM vehicles that do have the picutre like the Canada version shows

One thing i just thought if was it could be because of one silly little part of one silly little province in canada called quebec. those silly shits , well some of them insist on speaking french and the rest of canada usually has to suffer for it, everything in this goddam country has to be in english and french, sometimes i cant even find the english instructions when i buy things,

i dont really wonder why anymore , why other countries especially the US always make fun of us, we are fooked up, bigtime,

and to think they made me learn french until grade 11, i sucked at it, cause i hated it, making you learn a useless language, even before u properly learn english

stupid canadians we are

I take it you are from Canada then Shiner. But I will agree on the foreign language thing even here in the U.S. They spend so much time making us learn 2 years of a language in high school and then usually 2 years of a language in college, but then society complains when Americans can only read/write at the 10th grade level. Yes, me as an American will say that America is stupid. We aren't only stupid in English, but also in math. Just today they announced that America was 100 billion dollars short of their defecit estimations on a 420 billion dollar defecit. Hmmm...100 billion compared to 420 billion...that's a 25% error, no wonder why we can't do anything correctly when our federal government can't even do their own business correctly.
