You can't get busted for a windsheild tint because they can't test it. If you've ever been checked for illegal tint (which I have), you've seen the machine they use to test it. It only works on your side windows that roll up and down.

It's a little bit harder to see at night, but it just takes getting used to.

That's not entirely true. Along the l/r edges of the windshield, there are tiny markers that indicate how far down tint can go. If you go below the markers, then you can get nailed by the cops, who don't need any machine, a simple visual inspection will suffice. At least that's the case here in Chicago; maybe you're city/state is more lenient than it is here (ya lucky sob  ) In Chicago it's also illegal for the driver's and passenger side windows to have any tint at all, but unless a cop has nothing better than do, 99% of them let it slide.

any place around me will tint whatever you tell them to. they are just required to tell you that tinting the windshield and front driver and passenger windows is against state law

I had mine done by a friend of mine who works at a tint shop. He does side-jobs at his house for extra $$$. He charged me 200$ to strip the entire car and re-tint everything.

I gather from this statement you had previous tint on it. Which windows and what % tint?

emerge

old tint was 35% all-around

new tint is 6% all-around with 32% windsheild

Looks good. I guess Atlanta is much cooler about the tint laws than New York. I wouldn't get two blocks with tint like that.
That's a really kick-ass feature, because it's so rare. I'll spare you the speech about safety, because chances are we'll never be on the same roads so go for it!

Well it looks good, not exactly sure about seeing at night with all that tint, but it looks good. I know when they remove the tint from the back window, sometimes the windsheild de-frost lines come up with it, thereby making it so they don't all work. Was this the case, or are all the windsheild defrost lines intact?

Anyways, good luck keeping it all for awhile. I know in alot of areas polce would nail you for all that, but especially the windsheild.

I had the same thing happen on my previous car. I could only defrost a few lines on my rear window when it would get fogged up. Can you give us the goods, or is it a 'trade secret' that your friend won't share?

Well you have to remember I have a camber kit. That picks the car up about an inch higher (because the tires sit perpindicular to the ground)

I forgot to mention that too him, opps. Yeah, I have a 5th gen with a 1.75" drop with front and rear camber correction kits. 3" is prettylow, but espeically on a 5th gen. I'd say 2" or so would be up his ally...and oh course a cmaber kit is a good idea unless he likes going though tires like they're a bad style, lol.

with the windshield tint to make it legal just go to an optimologist (eye doctor) and they can give you a letter saying your eyes are super sensitive to sunlight. Just pretend at the appointment that you're eye's are sensitive as hell. (0:<

Good luck with that (though i think you may have been joking). The tint is still illegal, whether you're sensitive to sunlight or not. The cop/judge will just tell you to wear some shades, or not drive during daylight.

i'm serious. My dad's friends with a whole mess of cops up here and they told him that. I mean it may still be illegal but that's what the coppers told him.
