Is it only the screen that's out? Or does the player work OK otherwise?

I had the same problem with my 94 JGC with the infinity radio. It is an internal short in the head unit. My radio started out with the lights flickering. After some time, you could hear poping sounds coming through the speakers. Finally, the only speaker that would work was the front driver's door. I replaced the head unit with a Blaupunkt. All the speakers worked again without strange sounds. Crutchfield sent an install kit, detailed directions and a wiring harness for free with the cd unit. It took around 20 minutes to remove and replace.

thanks for the replies guys....

Only the screen that shows track #s, radio stations etc. does not work... button lights, radio, cd player and speakers work fine....

by the way scott, if you don't mind how much did you pay for the head unit?

thanks....

They had a unit on sale for $99. It was originally $169. Shipping was $6. It is the Sacramento model.

Same problem on 94 GC. Everything works except the main screen. Can that part be replaced?

I hope I am not hijacking this thread, but I have a similar problem with my new 95 Grand Cherokee.

Previous owner admitted to crossing battery terminals in a jump. Since then, the radio did not work, specifically, no sound, but CD mechanism did work, and sometimes display and buttons.

I put in another head unit from eBay, everything works (display, buttons, CD), but still no sound.

I put in another amp, still no sound.

Any ideas?

I did put a test light agains the speaker terms exiting the head unit and got a very dim bulb. Are wiring diagrams available for this system?

Thanks

Shaun
