91 passat gl over heats saviour2k 07-23-2004, 11:21 PM
I am having some issues with my 91 passat gl over heating. It runs fine for about 45 min or so and then it suddenly over heats. now i have been told that it is probaly just the thermostat and its stuck but i was wondering what else it could possibly be. There are no leaks untill it over heats then it boils over. boschmann 07-24-2004, 06:44 PM It could be lots of things, does the cooling fan come on? saviour2k 07-24-2004, 07:00 PM yeah sorry. Both my cooling fans come on. however the top hose on the rad seem's to get way to hot way to fast. and the bottom hose takes longer. So i flushed out the rad and filled it back up. but still the same problem i am at a loss for what it could be now. i have replaced the thermostat and have also flushed the rad and everything. starting to bother me now lol. **Side note. I have checked all the hoses and connections for blocks and have had no luck however now when i run the car for 10 min or so i notice a small leak in my rad on the left hand side at the very very bottom kreamr188 06-22-2005, 06:15 PM You need to replace your thermestat its underneath the car you have to take of the power stearing pump and its like a black flange with 2 10 mm bolts its prolly warped from overheatein so much.
