My drivers door window on my 94 Metro won't stay on the track when rolling it up. I have talked to several Geo owners who say this is normal and parts are not available. Any cures to this problem?

Happened on both sides of my 94 Metro. Often, one of the mounts at the front has broken. I fixed both sides by jamming everything in place with a four-inch piece of a 2x4! I had to chisel one of the pieces a bit to make it fit. But at the front of the door, down low, there is a space that can be filled almost exactly with a short bit of 2/x4.

One side has been working fine that way for 4 years, the other side I did just 4 months ago. My kids laughed at me, but their friends though it was cool. I was just happy that it worked! Cheap, too. With no manual or prior knowledge, the trickiest part of it was getting the window handle off so that I could remove the door panels. You have to hook a small U-shaped retaining clip and pull it straight up, I used a wire from a coat hanger with a 1/8 inch 90 degree bend in it). Once you get in there, get the glass back on the track and tighten up everything you can, and then wedge in your 2x4. Good luck.

My 93 had similar problem with drivers door. Lower mounting bolt thru
door had broken metal around head of bolt and let window track come
loose. Got window lined up in tracks and replaced bolt with large flat
washer to compensate for hole broken in door metal. Has worked
fine since. Worth the time to clean the window crank gears and
lubricate. Good luck!

Thanks guys, I will tear into it. I always enjoy coming up with unique fixes.

Maybe I can find a way to use some duct tape on it :naughty:

I experienced the same problem with my 90 Geo on both front doors. I did what the previous contributors suggested and found the broken guide mount along the front of the door along with two very loose cranking mechanism attachment bolts. I tightened the bolts and put a large washer on the lower guide mount bolt where the head pulled through the door body and the windows work fine. None of the mechanism was broken, being loose just allowed the windows to walk out of the guides. Cheap fix took about three hours for both doors.

By any chance would you post some pictures? ;)

Thanks in advanced,
