Power output on rebuilt '90 LXUnexplodedCow 07-19-2004, 05:56 PM I'm testing the compression on a freshly rebuilt '90 1.9 LX engine....with the CFI. I put on a GT header from the same generation, and bypassed the catalytic converter. Also, I am thinking of putting in a small hood scoop to make a true c.a.i. Does anybody have any idea what this would do to the power output of the car? I know it would increase, but does anyone have a clue of how much. The engine also has roller lifters ( a plus), and has a rebuilt head, which would raise the compression. On testing it the engine had 185 psi on all cylinders......so I'd say about a 12.6 to 1 compression ratio, whereas stock is 9 to 1. Any ideas, please let me know. Thanks. Jet-Lee 07-20-2004, 09:19 AM I'm not very familiar with the 1.9L, except that it is a dog, but your compression is identical to mine (2.0L SPI). I range from 184-186. I'd think with the hood scoop and bypassing the Cat, you might get a few more horses, nothing big. As far as roller lifters, I have no clue. No experience with them. Snow93 10-31-2004, 12:14 PM the 93 1.9in mine gets bout 205psi compression on a dry run on all cylinders.. as far as a scoop.. more air.. more power.. cooler air.. more power.. or tahts how i see it. (ya i know this ones been dead fora while..) vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
