i've been reading a lot of your threads...and i notice it's a lot of the same people that post responses, which i like. mostly because i don't have a million people trying to tell me a million different things. so here it goes......

if you couldn't tell by my name i'm a newbie. i just bought my rex out of new mexico, lol. i live in tennessee, so it's a journey away! the guy i bought it from said that the stock engine had 149k on it, but he took it out and put an engine from an 89 that had 115 on it. not a HUGE difference but every little bit helps i suppose. now, like i said i bought pretty far away and it has to be driven back..obviously. so what precautions can i take to insure a safe trip? (sorry i know u guys like one question per thread) ALSO, do you think it will be okay if i go ahead with the road trip i had planned while i'm out on that side of the U.S. lol...... i would appreciate a speedy response seeing as how i fly to new mexico a week from today.

-jason the newest newbie of them all, lol

Bring spare belts and some metric tools along. Extra fluids is also a good idea. Good luck!

should i stop every so often to let the engine chill for a little bit, and if so, how long?

bring a thing of extra oil, you might be low by the time you head home if your road trip is super long

well, i am going to be putting about 2,800 or 2,900 miles on my car with the whole trip. so i had planned on just getting a couple of oil changes while i was out. at the appropriate mileage, of course.
