"Spec Vee" or Spec 5" ?IwannaSpecV 01-30-2002, 01:04 PM jloveindy(another forum) brought up something that made me think. Is it true that it is the "Specification 5" machine. I have been totally calling it the "Spec Vee" - and thinking it's for Special Vehicle like the "SVT - Special Vehicle Team" Fords. Are there any sites that prove one or the other. Quote: "I was wondering that myself. If you're pronouncing it "Spec-vee" you're incorrect it's "Spec-5" as in roman numeral 5 (V). Spec is for Specification, thus this is the SE-R, Specification 5. Why is it the 5th specification though? I would guess that our car commemorates the 5th generation of the Sentra line. The original Sentra SE-R made it's debut in the 1991 Sentra model and carried on through 1994, this was the 3rd generation Sentra. The 4th generation Sentra model (1995-1999) did not have an SE-R but did feature a two door 200SX and a four door Sentra SE, but they weren't as sporty as the SE-R they replaced. The 5th Generation reintroduces the Sentra as more than just a spoiler package and alloy wheel, the car now has bite again." Thanks, K- spnx 01-30-2002, 01:12 PM "Spec 5" is wrong. It's "Spec Vee". From Skyline GTR V-Spec. And no, it's not GTR Five-Spec, either... Sentra Styling 01-30-2002, 07:45 PM Originally posted by spnx "Spec 5" is wrong. It's "Spec Vee". From Skyline GTR V-Spec. Don't really think it matters myself... every other manufacturer calls it Vee... all the enthusiasts call it Vee... that's what's gonna stick anyway. :) Sentra Styling 02-04-2002, 03:40 PM Originally posted by killick When Car and Driver (or was it Road n Track) did a review of a pre-production version months ago, they insisted that it was pronounced Spec 5 ... not Spec V. SynisterLBP 02-26-2002, 01:24 AM its spec-v like the skyline. spec-"victory" is actually what it is for spnx 02-26-2002, 09:25 AM Originally posted by SynisterLBP its spec-v like the skyline. spec-"victory" is actually what it is for Actually the Skyline designation is V spec. The engineers for the Skyline refused to have the SE-R take their brand name entirely, hence Spec V instead of V spec. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
