ok guys,,,,,, time to replace the brake rotors and pad on my 2001 GC, What is you guys opinion as to the best rotors, and pads. I am thinking that the stillen cross drilled, I am basing this by talking to the saleman from stillen, He said that the problem is that the pads do not retract enough to allow heat to dissapate, that is where the cross drilled will help. I am also looking at the powerslot brakes and Hawk pads from Quadratec................... any one have any suggestions would be appreciated..........

If I wanted the best replacement I would use factory replacement parts. My second choice would be ceramix pads with united rotors. Cross drilled rotors are another story and unless you break hard into corners then you dont need them. But if you want to spend the bucks feel free. With a GC though unless you do a lot of towing the other parts are fine.

I prefer the top line NAPA rotors and ceramix pads though any top line wagner or other rotor will do.

some of that preference is price and the ceramix wear really well. should get 70k miles out of the pads.

the rotors will last too if you religiously torque a retorque the wheel nuts especially on the front as they are a composite rotor. the rears arn't so touchy but corrosion seems to affect them more.

I replaced the calipers too at the last front rotor and pad change.

The average driver has no need for the drilled rotors though the slotted ones may help in reducing brake fade if pulling a trailer.

The extra margin would be nice though if I had the extra bucks and they look nice too.

just my 0.02
