97 Caravan has intermittent start. Turn ignition switch and only get a "click" and sounds of a weak battery. Strong headlights and regular indications though of all electrical components. Replaced battery as a good place to begin. Cycling of ignition switch seems to eventually get a good strong rotation and subsequent start...
Have read many threads of ignition switch failing or starter solonoid contacts failing or even posible loose wiring/short around the starter...has anyone narrowed this down further???

I agree. Had the same problem with my 97. Had starter changed and good as new.

The mechanic that replaced the battery says he checked it and it was "ok". In other words he was not able to duplicate the problem. I am about to change the plunger and contacts for a $20 shot in the dark...will that be enough or should I replace the whole starter for $120+??? Thanks for the reply.

There are alot of bolts that have to be removed The dash board can be pulled back after that .
