I have a 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee and the rear tail lights are out, gear shifter lights, and heat/ac/vent lights are out.

Fuses look good, but not sure if I am finding the right one.

Anyone have any words of wisdom to fix this? Thanks!

Get a 12 volt test lite and your owners manual.

The manual should have a fuse diagram telling you the fuse for each of those circuits.

If they are on the same circuit, your in luck. (OR NOT) :eek7:

The fuse will have two small recessed contact points visible in the back of the fuse, make sure the test lite lights at both points. If not the fuse is burned out.

You can do the same test with a multimeter. Battery voltage should show up at the contacts.

Thanks for the response! I found on another forum that it maybe the brake switch (soloniod) by the brake pedal arm or one light bulb is out causing the rest to cut out. Any thoughts?

Thanks again,

hey,

i have the same exact problem on my 2000 grand cherokee also. it just started tonight after i went through some mudd and then i hit what sounded like a rock.

shortly after that i noticed none of my gear shift lights worked, my ac/vent/radio lights don't work, then got pulled over by an officer and found out my taillights or brake lights don't work.

my hazard lights still work and i belive my turn signals do and my reverse lights.

did you find out what exactly was wrong and how can i fix this??

thanks

I brough it in the dealer and it turn out to be a fuse. I even checked all the fuses before hand, but I guess one had a slight crack in it. $60 later. I would, regardless what they look like replace the fuse. Its not obvious which one runs those lights so I would just replace any that sound like it on the fuse panel (inside panel), fuses are cheap anyway. I think I shorted it with an old trailer.
