F22A block compatible with F22b1 vtec headAccordExTuner 07-14-2004, 01:23 AM I have a 90 accord ex and want to get some more horsepower and maybe boost. Any info would help. Thanx 92lx 07-14-2004, 02:28 AM so I'm guessing the question is if you can put a f22b1 vtec head on your block. Ya, you could.....it'll net you around 20 crank horsepower, or around 15 at the wheels....over your current f22a4. It takes a few modifications, and some wiring, and a lot of f22b1 parts. however, the wiring, the part cost....not worth it unless it's practically given to you (like less than $100!). After gaskets and all that, bah. I'd say if you don't want to do a real engine swap (h22/h23), then go ahead and just get some nitrous. It's the best bang for the buck for "major" power gains..... the F series is great, but it takes a good bit of money to get descent power out of them. In most cases, for most people, the H series swap is going to be your absolute best bet. Hands down. 170 wheel horsepower-ish (200 crank) is kinda hard to get out of a SOHC non-vtec motor with a terribly geared transmission. Just my 2 cents. - Nathan AccordExTuner 07-14-2004, 11:59 AM thanx for the info. i'm going to check prices and figure out what would be best. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
