Detroit versus Japanmarichiko 07-13-2004, 02:25 PM Who makes the better 4wd drive truck these days? And who gives the best bang for you dollar? Has Detroit improved in the last 10 years? What about the last five? kman10587 07-13-2004, 07:35 PM Nope, I think Japan's still got the upper-hand... 91300zxtt 07-16-2004, 12:58 PM detroit for sure. as a person who has carried many"a"cargo i would deffinately say detroit. looks better, rides better, pulls better, better engine. the list goes on. you really cant beat it for trucks. there are only a select few who come close from japan. YogsVR4 07-16-2004, 05:11 PM Detroit automakers have really improved their quality over the last several years. Though (in general) Toyota and Honda are still the leaders. When it comes to trucks though, the US manufacturers are still the industry leaders. Igovert500 07-19-2004, 03:50 AM (What Yogs said) Jimster 07-26-2004, 04:26 AM Dodge and Ford have the truck market under control, GM makes lame trucks in comparison. However Toyota trucks will always be the most reliable, just ask all those African farmers with thier 1 million Km+ Hiluxes... Blazing Rice 07-28-2004, 05:47 PM It largely depends on what you intend to do with the truck. GM full size trucks are the most car like, and the 3/4 and 1 ton trucks are really the only ones worth looking at if you have to work. Dodge and Ford own the towing category, but GM is right up there with them with the Isuzu built Duramax motor. If I had my choice, It would be a Cummins Dodge 4x4. :) kenwood guy 07-29-2004, 08:27 PM that and the F 250 with a lift... monsters!! thunderbird muscle 07-29-2004, 09:28 PM Detroit Ford find a pickup that will out pull a powerstroke diessel and I will shake your hand. Imports don't cut it in the pickup market sorry! kenwood guy 07-29-2004, 09:34 PM how about the titan ?? RedLightning 08-07-2004, 11:11 PM i voted detroit, just better trucks, and other then the titan, japan does not make a "real" truck. engineer 08-11-2004, 03:28 AM tundra? lol and once ur done u can drop in a 2jz-GTE and make a 6 second drag car... i think venom tundra runs 6's Jimster 08-16-2004, 04:16 AM i voted detroit, just better trucks, and other then the titan, japan does not make a "real" truck. Igonorant, foolish young man. Like I said- Toyota make the most heavily-used work horses in the world. RedLightning 08-16-2004, 09:26 PM Igonorant, foolish young man. Like I said- Toyota make the most heavily-used work horses in the world. maybe in italy the tundra is a big ol workhorse, or if you put it next to a "ute" in austrialia(sorry bout spelling) it would look like a tough truck, put it next to any fullsize american truck or the titan it looks like a car. http://www.caranddriver.com/article.asp?section_id=15&article_id=7692&page_number=1 kenwood guy 08-17-2004, 12:38 AM I would have to agree it seems more car like CaTasHtRoPhE 67 08-23-2004, 02:00 PM i go with japan for cars and detroit for trucks love the f150 FordJunky 08-28-2004, 12:49 AM when it comes to trucks its gotta be detroit, import trucks arent up to par with detroit. and the titan is a piece of crap, do a little research, there have been nothing but complaints, the thing falls apart right off the lot. and as for toyota making the most dependable trucks, i dont agree at all, the old 22r was the one engine that ran circles around all the competition but since then theyve fallen apart just like every other truck. kenwood guy 08-28-2004, 01:32 AM which truck is the 22r??? is that the late 80s toyota truck with 4 wheel drive and a V6 engine???? FordJunky 08-28-2004, 02:11 AM no, sorry i shoulda been more clear, the 22r is the engine that was used in the 80s (2.4L) in the celicas, pickups and 4runners. one of the longest lasting engines out there. and as far as over all durability of toyota, my friends 4 runner has completely fallen apart, the only thing that still works is the engine. kenwood guy 08-28-2004, 05:25 PM im still confused which pickups 4x4???? is it a 4cyl or a 6cyl im guessing its a 6cyl FordJunky 08-28-2004, 06:19 PM 2.4L 4 cylinder importssuck88 09-05-2004, 08:44 PM i would definitly say detroit makes way better trucks. i hear that the toyota trucks are beasts, but not as good as the ole U.S of A trucks. Dream truck(s), Dodge Ram Dodge Dakota Chevy Silverado, Chevy Pick up All of course with a huge lift, 40inch mudders, nice brush guard, grilll guard, maybe roll cage, kc lights, and the rest of the works. 91300zxtt 09-05-2004, 08:57 PM i would definitly say detroit makes way better trucks. i hear that the toyota trucks are beasts, but not as good as the ole U.S of A trucks.
