I have a 1997 Chevy Blazer 4x4 which no longer goes in reverse. Also, the transmission has trouble shifting from 1st to 2nd gear. Any thoughts of what my problem might be would be appreciated.

My boyfriend has a 72 that the tranny wouldn't go into reverse. When we took it in the mechanic said the first thing to go out in a tranny is reverse: it's all downhill from there. Don't know what area you are in but they aren't that much for a rebuilt. Good Luck!

The sun shell is broke.

No rev and no 2nd.

It shifts from 1st to 3rd. :(

Bad news....I just replaced the transmission in my 1997 Blazer because of the same problem. Good luck with yours.

That was the problem. The gear end snapped right off the sun shell. $850 total labor and parts at a good non dealer tranny shop.
