turn directional mechanism replacement lou S. 07-13-2004, 08:01 AM
I've got a 94 S-10, 4 dr., 4.3 and the directional arm does not click back "home" after making a left hand turn. Anybody have any experience replacing the unit or am I better off just remembering to turn it off after turning. ebox2105 09-24-2004, 03:12 AM My lefthand turn signal is doing the same exact thing. The Chiltons manual suggest replacing the "turn signal cam" inside the steering column. I have not replaced it becuase the part cost $160 at the dealer and you need special tools to remove the steering wheel. lou S. 09-24-2004, 06:47 AM Of course----special tools are needed. lol. I haven't attempted to replace mine yet either. 69CamaroRSSSLover 09-25-2004, 11:05 AM The special tool, a steering wheel puller, can be borrowed from your local Autozone or similar parts store. The Turn Signal Cam is available at the following stores which are local to you: http://www.partsamerica.com/images/spaclear.gifAdvance Auto Parts #2459 (http://www.partsamerica.com/PopAvailMapFrame.asp?location_id=2459&supplier_code=AAP&distance=0&stocking_flag=True&address=4810%20N%20Teutonia%20Ave.&city=Milwaukee&chain_name=Advance%20Auto%20Parts&chain=advance) 4810 N Teutonia Ave., Milwaukee http://www.partsamerica.com/images/spaclear.gif0 mileshttp://www.partsamerica.com/images/spaclear.gifYes http://www.partsamerica.com/images/spaclear.gifhttp://www.partsamerica.com/images/spaclear.gifhttp://www.partsamerica.com/images/spaclear.gifhttp://www.partsamerica.com/images/spaclear.gifhttp://www.partsamerica.com/images/spaclear.gifhttp://www.partsamerica.com/images/checker.gif http://www.partsamerica.com/images/spaclear.gifChecker Auto Parts #4148 (http://www.partsamerica.com/PopAvailMapFrame.asp?location_id=4148&supplier_code=CSK&distance=2&stocking_flag=True&address=272%20E%20Capitol%20Dr&city=Milwaukee&chain_name=Checker%20Auto%20Parts&chain=checker) 272 E Capitol Dr, Milwaukee http://www.partsamerica.com/images/spaclear.gif2 mileshttp://www.partsamerica.com/images/spaclear.gifYes http://www.partsamerica.com/images/spaclear.gifhttp://www.partsamerica.com/images/spaclear.gifhttp://www.partsamerica.com/images/spaclear.gifhttp://www.partsamerica.com/images/spaclear.gifhttp://www.partsamerica.com/images/spaclear.gifhttp://www.partsamerica.com/images/advance.gif http://www.partsamerica.com/images/spaclear.gifAdvance Auto Parts #6195 (http://www.partsamerica.com/PopAvailMapFrame.asp?location_id=6195&supplier_code=AAP&distance=3&stocking_flag=True&address=7625%20West%20Fond%20Dulac%20Ave&city=Milwaukee&chain_name=Advance%20Auto%20Parts&chain=advance) 7625 West Fond Dulac Ave, Milwaukee http://www.partsamerica.com/images/spaclear.gif3 mileshttp://www.partsamerica.com/images/spaclear.gifYes http://www.partsamerica.com/images/spaclear.gifhttp://www.partsamerica.com/images/spaclear.gifhttp://www.partsamerica.com/images/spaclear.gifhttp://www.partsamerica.com/images/spaclear.gifhttp://www.partsamerica.com/images/spaclear.gifhttp://www.partsamerica.com/images/checker.gif http://www.partsamerica.com/images/spaclear.gifChecker Auto Parts #1883 (http://www.partsamerica.com/PopAvailMapFrame.asp?location_id=1883&supplier_code=CSK&distance=3&stocking_flag=True&address=3405%20W%20Fond%20Du%20Lac%20Ave&city=Milwaukee&chain_name=Checker%20Auto%20Parts&chain=checker) 3405 W Fond Du Lac Ave, Milwaukee http://www.partsamerica.com/images/spaclear.gif3 mileshttp://www.partsamerica.com/images/spaclear.gifYes http://www.partsamerica.com/images/spaclear.gifhttp://www.partsamerica.com/images/spaclear.gifhttp://www.partsamerica.com/images/spaclear.gifhttp://www.partsamerica.com/images/spaclear.gifhttp://www.partsamerica.com/images/spaclear.gifhttp://www.partsamerica.com/images/checker.gif http://www.partsamerica.com/images/spaclear.gifChecker Auto Parts #1867 (http://www.partsamerica.com/PopAvailMapFrame.asp?location_id=1867&supplier_code=CSK&distance=3&stocking_flag=True&address=7600%20W%20Capitol%20Dr&city=Milwaukee&chain_name=Checker%20Auto%20Parts&chain=checker) 7600 W Capitol Dr, Milwaukee http://www.partsamerica.com/images/spaclear.gif3 mileshttp://www.partsamerica.com/images/spaclear.gifYes 69CamaroRSSSLover 09-25-2004, 11:06 AM Oh yea, the cost is $7.97. Good luck! BlazerLT 09-25-2004, 08:24 PM I would just wait till it is completely shot and then replace it. Not worth the replacement just because it won't come back to center. Mikado14 09-26-2004, 10:30 AM You will also need the spring compression tool to depress the detent plate that locks the steering wheel. lou S. 09-27-2004, 07:14 AM I'm just going to wait until the thing is completely gone. Thanks for all the info though. BlazerLT 09-27-2004, 01:49 PM I'm just going to wait until the thing is completely gone. Thanks for all the info though. Smart man.
