Click noises when cold

Hi my 98 Venture with 118000 miles makes click noises early in the morning for just 5 minutes. I can hear the click coming from the front wheels, but they go away after I run the car for 5 minutes. I was wondering if this is the begining of CV joints problems or something else. The rest of the day is OK and I don't hear any noises. Thank you.

You may just be hearing the tapping of the valves or whatever it is. These motors (just like the 2.8 and 3.1 which share the same block, just not bored out as large) exibit this behavior until the motor warms up and the heat causes enough expansion to stop the noise ( I believe its the rings that cause a little bit of slap when cold. This is why it goes away when the motor is warm.) You could try using a heavier oil (10W30), but you will always hear this when the motor is cold.
