I have a question and maybe SOMEONE can help me.
I had my Xterra on the road for a few months, NO PROBLEM. But, I got into quite a bit of mud. Then I started hearing a noise when I would accelerate(only pushing the gas). I took it to a mechanic and he looked underneath and said that my EXHAUST FILTER had mud on it and that it needed to be washed off underneath. Ok, fine. I left and washed off the underside. The noise decreased dramatically. However, I still have a noiseunder the same circumstances. It is really annoying.
This mechanics advice stands up. There is nothing worng with the engine and the truck is fine.
How do I find this EXHAUST FILTER underneath so I can clean it directly and thoroughly?
I was told that it is just a metal peice that opens and shuts when the gas is pressed.

THANKS!

Ashley
