i am still trying to diagnose my engine surge and i noticed...my #2 plug wire keeps slipping it's way off the distributor. a few weeks ago it fell off completely and made it misfire. yesterday it started surging again and i noticed the plug wire was loose. still on, but only about halfway. would that cause my engine to surge? or is is something else (other the the TPS)? thanks guys i appreciate it

I would change the distributor cap, rotor, and ignition wires. Plug wires should not come loose like that. Loose/disconnected vacuum hoses will also cause surging.

well yesterday i was driving to the store and it was fine, but when i went over some railroad tracks, it started to do it off and on towards the store. when i began to drive home, it didn't do it. so, is it maybe a loose connection somewhere like the fuel injector? and the vacuum hoses, how do you check/replace those? my car is only doing this sometimes, in fact it didn't do it this morning.

Just take a visual look at each vacuum line and replace any that are cracked, dried, very hard or don't seem to fit tight. Also look for any that may have popped off.

Any auto parts place like Pep Boys, AutoZone, NAPA, Carquest, Advance Auto, etc. I went in and purchased a few feet of each size they had just to have some on hand.
